When we don’t have client sessions, we sometimes have the chance to get together with other photographers for coordinated photo meetups. The models for these meetups often dress for themes, as they interpret them. One opportunity came up for us to attend a meetup where the theme was “myth and make-believe.” We met at the Japanese Gardens at the Fabyan Forest Preserve in Geneva, IL, where the Gardens were reserved especially for this event.
We photographed a Japanese geisha, a vampiress, a warlock, video game characters, mythological creatures, fairies, and a princess: Sleeping Beauty. Although Princess Aurora came dressed in a fabulously blue gown, we know every little girl who’s every watched this Disney classic always wished they had a dress that magically changed colors! Redbud Portraits is in the business of capturing magical moments so of course we found the magic that made her blue gown turn pink! (Make it PINK! Make it BLUE!)
This evening was just what we needed – a creative session with no expectations and no restrictions, but with all the enthusiasm and excitement! We love all the photos we captured that evening of the models and cosplayers, but today, we’d like to share with you some of the photos we took of Sleeping Beauty. Enjoy!
